LFS I Focus

Preparing for the Journey:
In preparation for Flight School™, you will complete a set of personal assessment instruments. In addition, you may have participated in a Know Thy Self™ Workshop, or you may have invited feedback from others in your organization through an ODDIS® 360° assessment. These tools will give you an objective measurement of your leadership development “Flight Path.”

Registration materials and travel info can be found on the Travel & Class Information page.

Now, you are ready to learn how to “fly”!

Day 1: Discovering Leadership
We’ll kick off the first day of Leadership Flight School™ by jumping into the development experience and challenge you to get committed. We’ll be covering many topics including:

  • Introduction to Leadership Fundamentals
  • Servant Leadership and Followership Model
  • Introduction to Organizational Dynamics
  • Leadership Pre-requisites
  • Leadership Templating: The Development/Counseling Template

Day 1’s Destination:
You’ve entered the world of leadership and learned how you become a leader. You’ve gained knowledge on how leadership serves the bigger organizational picture, and the use of templates to activate leadership. You’ve been introduced to visioning.

Day 2: Principles of Flight
Today you’ll learn about “Lift, Drag, and Thrust” – Hearts, Minds, and Imagination.

  • Practical Visioning
  • Paradigm Shifting in Action

Day 2’s Destination:
You’ve now gained an up close and personal exposure to leadership principles. You’ve found some tried and true methods of relating to followers, and practiced several Leadership Best Practices.

Day 3: Unleashing Potential
Now that you’ve got the basics and you’re ready to move the organization forward, it’s time to begin working together and begin flying high and fast. On the third day you’ll continue your experiential learning, including:

  • Completing the Development Template
  • Practice, Practice, Practice
  • Assessing your Aura
  • Diagnostic Protocol

Day 3’s Destination:
You’ve learned how to push the flight envelope and learned the deeper theory of aerodynamics. You now have a complete Flight Plan that you can modify to match your own style.

Day 4: Advanced Tools and Tactics for High Altitude Flight
Now it’s time to focus on understanding the subtleties of organizational dynamics. We’ll teach you how to “fly” in turbulent situations as well as in clear, blue skies. You’ll learn how to identify and overcome organizational blockages (storms) that can pull your team off their flight paths. You will experience:

  • Simulation (practicing want you have learned)
  • Use the tools you have learned to find solutions for your real-world challenges
  • Things you cannot manage - personal blockages and organizational syndromes

Day 4’s Destination:
You’ve learned to fly by the instruments and trust the flight checklists. You should be confident in all the new “people tools” you now have in your flight bag and comfortable selecting the right tools for the right situation! You are competent in leadership simulation. You are ready for takeoff!

Day 5: Re-Entry
The ½ day of the 5th day is devoted to re-entering your workplace with your new leadership skills, and preparing you for how your colleagues will interact and perceive this change in your leadership style and approach. Day 5 concludes with a graduation, and entry into the Leadership Flight School™ Alumni Association.

The leadership lessons do not end at noon on Friday. We are committed to helping you grow and achieve your personal and career objectives. You will leave with tools and templates to use, but we are here to continue to resource your learning long after your week of Leadership Flight School™. We recommend staying in touch with your classmates to keep each other on-track.
